Duke of Edinburgh

Duke of Edinburgh scheme at Calder High School

Calder High School is proud of the fact that from September 2019 all students in Year 9 will be entered for their Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Award. The scheme enables young people, from all backgrounds, to build a range of skills and experiences to reach their full potential and navigate life’s challenges in a global community’. DofE is a life-changing experience. A fun time with friends. An opportunity to discover new interests and talents. A tool to develop essential skills for life and work. A recognised mark of achievement, respected by employers. Students will use tutor time, curriculum time and their own time to complete the four sections – physical, skills, volunteering and the expedition. For further information please see Mr Webb

Year 11 Duke of Edinburgh Award January 2021

At present, as you know, we are unable to go on Expeditions or train to prepare for Expeditions.Instead, D of E are still offering a, “Certificate of Achievement Award” for all participants who have completed all three sections. This is well worth having and will certainly be looked upon favourably by prospective Colleges and future employers next year. If you have evidence to add, but have forgotten how to do it, please read on.

1 Enter edofe.org.
2 Put in your username and password.
3 Click on “Add evidence”
4 Click on “Text” or “Photo” depending on the evidence you want to add.
5 Give the evidence a name for example “4th January 2021”
6 Describe what you did in the large text box.
7 Click “Save and submit” and it will come to me for approval.

Once you have added 12 bits of evidence for the sections you are doing for three months and 24 for the section you are doing for six months, get your Assessor to fill the report in. Next, take a picture of it and upload onto edofe so I can approve it.If you are currently unable to see your nominated Assessor, please see me.

When we return to school properly, I.B.3. will be available for Year 11 D of E students on Tuesdays during registration for those who wish to add evidence. It would be fantastic, after all the hard work that you have done, if you were able to complete the sections and gain the Certificate of Achievement from the D of E.
