CALDER PRIMARY ADMISSIONS

Prospective Pupils for Reception September 2026
Calder Primary School admits 15 children into our Reception class each September and Reception are taught on their own, with a qualified Early Years specialist teacher. Our Calder Learning Trust catchment area covers Hebden Bridge, Cragg Vale, Mytholmroyd, Luddenden and surrounding areas.
Our Open Week is from Monday 3rd- Friday 7th November 2025. We invite families to make an appointment to meet our headteacher, Mrs Lambert, and have a tour of the school to see our classes and facilities and meet our wonderful pupils and staff.
Please email primary@calderlearningtrust.com or telephone 01422 883213 to make an appointment to suit you.
We recommend you visit during the school day to see it in action, but we are flexible if you need an earlier or later appointment. We can also arrange appointments outside of Open Week if you need one, please just ask.
We work closely with our neighbouring Early Years settings- including Little Village Learners, The Ark and Cozy Creations Childminding- to support pupils in their transition to school including sessions to visit our classrooms, make new friends and explore their learning environments. As a result, pupils settle into school quickly and confidently and make excellent progress in their learning. Our EYFS attainment results are consistently significantly above local and national averages and our children love learning!
Admissions
As a 4-16 through school, once pupils are admitted to The Calder Learning Trust in Reception, they automatically continue through Calder Primary and Calder High and do not need to re-apply for a secondary place unless they wish to attend a different secondary school or take the 11+.
Our pupils use specialist facilities in Calder High including ICT suites, Technology rooms, Science rooms, Theatre, Dance Studio, Gyms, PE Field and MUGA pitch and more. The Calder Learning Trust MFL teachers teach Spanish from Reception to Year 6 and pupils in Reception and Key Stages 1 and 2 have additional specialist tuition in Music, Art, DT and ICT from Secondary staff. Consequently they are more familiar with the site and the staff before they move into Year 7.
Further information regarding admission arrangements can be found on the Calderdale Council website
We welcome within-year admissions and we have vacancies in some year groups in school and a waiting list in others.
Please see our policies page for our Admissions Policy.
