OUR HOUSE SYSTEM

When joining The Calder Learning Trust, all our young people are allocated a place in one of four school houses named after local landmarks. These are Hardcastle, Shibden, Stoodley and Wainhouse.

This vertical house system helps foster a sense of identity, belonging and pride. In Calder Primary, all our Year 6 pupils are house captains to pupils in Year R-6 and they collect house points on their house sticker charts. In Calder High School, we have house prefects and all students wear a house tie and collect house points through Arbor.

Primary pupils and secondary students are able to represent and support their houses in a wide variety of academic and extra-curricular ways throughout the year. The culmination of the year is the presentation of the Calder Cup on the last day of the summer term.
