New Starters September 2023
Hello! We would be delighted to show you around our school so that you can meet our pupils and staff and find out more about us. Please telephone or email us to make an appointment.
The best piece of advice we can give you for choosing your child's school is to visit different local schools to you and get a feel for where you think will suit your child best, both for Reception but also the rest of their primary education and beyond!
Of course, we hope that you choose our school for your child and we are more than happy to help with any questions or queries you might have before you make this decision.
To apply for a Reception place for September 2023, please apply between 18th November 2022 and 15th January 2023. Parents will be notified of their place on 17th April 2023, known as National Offers Day. Please apply on the Calderdale website here and search for The Calder Learning Trust.
Calder Primary School admits 15 children into our Reception class each September and Reception are taught on their own, with a qualified teacher and teaching assistant. Our Calder Learning Trust catchment area covers Hebden Bridge, Cragg Vale, Mytholmroyd, Luddenden and surrounding areas.
We look forward to welcoming you to our school. Mrs Lambert
As a 4-16 through school, once pupils are admitted to The Calder Learning Trust in Reception, they automatically continue through Calder Primary and Calder High and do not need to re-apply for a secondary place unless they wish to attend a different secondary school or take the 11+.
Our pupils use specialist facilities in Calder High including ICT suites, Technology rooms, Science rooms, Theatre, Dance Studio, Gyms, PE Field and MUGA and more. The Calder Learning Trust Head of MfL teaches Spanish from Reception to Year 6 and pupils in Key Stage 2 have additional specialist tuition in Music, Art and DT and ICT from Secondary staff. Consequently they are more familiar with the site and the staff before they move into Year 7.
Further information regarding admission arrangements can be found on the Calderdale Council website
We welcome within-year admissions and we have vacancies in some year groups in school and a waiting list in others.
Our school uniform is available to purchase at Shaw Hardcastle in Halifax or online at https://myclothing.com/ and search for Calder Primary School. We also have pre-loved uniform for sale for 50p-£1 in our school reception area, you are welcome to pop in and browse or get in touch if you want to check if we have what you're looking for.
