We hope you all enjoyed a well-deserved break over the Easter holidays. Thank you to everyone who completed our parent survey, it was really helpful to hear how you have been getting on with the project work. Thank you also for your words of thanks and support which I passed on to all staff. Following the feedback, Miss Smith has included a suggested timetable for Class 3 for this week, please see the Class 3 page for more information on this. We have also been supporting those families who said they were having difficulties with accessing work. If this also applies to you please let us know and we will be happy to discuss how we can help.
Thank you also to those children (and parents!) who took part in our Easter competition - there were some amazing entries - and who have sent us what they have been up to so far.
Calder High will be in touch with Year 6 pupils about transition and SEND support and Miss Smith is working with them to share her teacher assessments of their attainment so far.
We miss you all and are looking at how class teachers can keep in touch with their classes whilst we are all away. More to follow on this!
As ever if we can help with anything at all please do get in touch.
Well done for completing Week 1 of working at home - children and parents! We have now created 3 pages under this 'Distance Learning Page' - one for each class. The teachers have also added details on prodigy maths for Classes 1 and 2 and spelling lists and SPAG for Classes 2 and 3. Mrs Kennedy has also added some Reading Comprehension books & questions for Class 2.
Please don't feel you need to do everything every week! Please work on what your child needs to practice and what works for you and your family. As you will probably have seen, there are now some great online resources including White Rose Maths daily lessons (We use White Rose in school anyway so the children are familiar with the format), Joe Wicks PE on Youtube, Oti Mabuse Dance, Mylene Class Music and Chester Zoo Live on Facebook to name a few!
This is a difficult time for everyone and many of you will be juggling working at home and childcare. The learning projects hopefully will give some tasks that children can work on by themselves, such as the artwork or postcard writing. Reassurance, creative time, outdoor time and family time are all just as important and we have loved seeing what you have got up to so far!
Seeing pupils writing cards to neighbours, making rainbows to display in windows and taking donations to key workers have made us extremely proud of our wonderful pupils.
If you need any support with any of the work or anything else at all, please do email us at firstname.lastname@example.org (please don't email teachers directly on their email addresses)
Stay Safe! Mrs Lambert
We have also compiled some additional resources and links which you might find useful, including for creative and outdoor learning. We have grouped these in a document below but will also be tweeting updates as more resources become available too.
On our 'Curriculum Plans' page, you can download the Long Term Plans which give you an overview of the topics your child's class would have been covering, and the progression documents which give the end of year expectations for their year group in each subject.
We will really miss seeing everyone every day, so we would love to see what you're getting up to and see any of your project work - you can tweet us @CalderPrimary and use the hashtag #CalderLearningProjects. Alternatively you can email email@example.com and let us know if you're happy for us to share anything on social media or if it's for our eyes only!
